Have there been any down rounds or bridge funding rounds that indicate delays in company traction?
As you have just seen, your cap table contains sensitive information about your startup, its investors, and even your long range plans (future funding rounds, valuation expectations, and exit planning).
In our example, the color banded rows (purple, orange, blue, and green, if you are reading this on a color device) help highlight the additional details of each investor's equity as the startup raises additional funding rounds, including number of shares owned and the resulting ownership percentage.
As you will learn later in this guide, founders or investors may choose to add shares to the stock option pool in later funding rounds to help offset the dilution effects on the option pool size.
Keep in mind, it is possible to convince investors at subsequent funding rounds to participate in funding additions to the option pool, thus reducing the equity hit founders take.
